Robotics registrations now open

Registrations are now open for the 11th annual CQ Junior Robotics Competition, scheduled to be held on Friday July 26 at the CQUniversity Community Sports Centre in Rockhampton.

This event is open to all primary and secondary school students within Central Queensland, including the area from Mackay to Bundaberg and out west to Longreach.

    Women are being warned that they may be at greater risk of incurring an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury – one of Australia’s most costly and common sports injuries – during their ovulation phase of their menstrual cycle.

    Preliminary results of a Central Queensland University study on the relationship between hormone fluctuations and ACL injuries in teenage netball players has shown that women are more at risk of injury when their oestrogen levels are at their highest.

    The sacrifices and hard work of 40 CQU STEPS students was formally recognised at a graduation ceremony held at the Gladstone campus recently.

    Friends, family and staff attended the ceremony to see the students receive their completion certificates, the formal end to a program that earns adults the qualifications needed to gain tertiary entry.

    Last weekend's Central Queensland University graduation ceremonies in Rockhampton included graduates' closing addresses by two former female students.

    The graduates' closing address for the morning ceremony was delivered by Brooke Veliscek (below), who graduated with 1st class Honours in her Bachelor of Engineering Co-op (Electrical) degree, and obtained the highest GPA of the female engineering student cohort.

    Mr Borthwick is among 10 nominees competing for the national title at Australia’s premier jazz festival, the Traffic Accident Commission Wangaratta Festival of Jazz on the November 1 weekend.
