EDED20452 Learners of English as an Alternative Language

Course details

This Course examines the diversity of learners engaged in studying English as an alternative language within a broad range of cultural and educational contexts for various purposes. The course posits that understanding culturally defined prior and current learning experiences, individual learning styles and purposes and cognitive maturity are key variables to an adequate process of learner needs analysis for the teacher of English as an alternative language. Assisting learners to demonstrate intercultural sensitivity and awareness in monolingual, bilingual and multilingual teaching and learning contexts is a continuing focus of the course.
