ENAR12005 Surveying and Mapping
This course introduces students to civil and mine surveying and mapping techniques. It outlines the practice in plane and geodetic surveying, measurements of distances, elevations and angles are considered. Students are expected to develop an understanding of and a capability in surveying methods which include triangulation, traversing and transfer of true meridian to an underground base. Surveys include civil and open cut and underground mines. Concepts are introduced in relation to automated survey instruments, errors and survey adjustments and computerised processing of survey data and the teamwork and communication skills necessary to implement such systems in the civil construction and mining industries. Distance Education (Flex) students will be required to attend a residential school to promote development of course learning outcomes.
